ACSM in 2010: Overview of SG Achievements Dr Netty Kamp, Chair ACSM Subgroup 14 November 2010 Berlin, Germany

Documenting good practices Launch of ACSM for TB control: collection of country-level good practices Highlights the vast spectrum of ACSM – engagement of communities, partnering with civil society, strategic communications, etc. Ideas to inspire, to be adapted according to context, specific TB control issue and target. Lessons learnt and limitations of document. Next steps: we need YOU to provide more good practices.

Training course on "Component 5" Component 5 of the Stop TB Strategy "Empower people with TB, and communities through partnership" Objective: to strengthen capacity of professionals who provide technical support to countries for the implementation of the Stop TB Strategy. Core Group input into curriculum and facilitation of course. 22-26 Feb 2010 Geneva, Switzerland

ACSM Training Curriculum 5-day workshop – "Overcoming barriers to TB control: the role of advocacy, communication, and social mobilization". Curriculum for training aimed at providing country-level staff with specific knowledge, skills, and resources to plan, implement, and evaluate effective ACSM interventions linked to specific TB control objectives. Curriculum used in two Regional Workshops (Tanzania and Sri Lanka). Produced by PATH, but available for all partners… use at? (need to see with PATH). one thing that is important to mention is that the curriculum is generic and focuses on the three concepts and how these can be used to address the program gaps, however prior to any training it should be reviewed and country specific data must be added.

M&E for ACSM Objective: to provide practical guidance on monitoring and evaluation of ACSM activities. Document clarifies key M&E terms and shows examples of practical applications of M&E concepts for ACSM, including the development of M&E plans as a critical element of overall project planning. Finalization in 2011 and pilot tests to gauge usefulness and practicality of document.

ACSM Symposium Innovative ACSM to address TB and TB/HIV challenges Good practices on community mobilization, innovative communications using voices and images, involving pharmacy staff in active case finding, and partnering.
