Veteran

Who is a veteran? An experienced soldier who served in time of war. A person who served in the military and was honorably discharged from the military.

What is a cemetery? A place where people are buried with tombstones. Tombstones often have an engraved inscription.

What is honor? To show great respect to others. To recognize and show public admiration to others.

What is respect? A feeling or show of honor to others. A way of treating or thinking about something or others.

What is a war medal? A small flat piece of metal with a colorful or specific design inscribed on it. Each war medal represents a mark of honor for military heroism, outstanding service or achievement.

Who receives the war medal? Soldiers who performed above and beyond their duties Soldiers serving or who have served in some combination of active duties.

What is the Rosebud Sioux Tribe Veterans Cemetery? Also known as Sicangu Akicita Owicahe Tribal Veterans Cemetery. Located in White River, South Dakota. Opened on the Memorial Day of 2013. The first National Native American Cemetery. Over 4,000 United States Military Veterans. Honor and respect to them as both United States Veterans and Lakota warriors.
