Suppose your production machine breaks down. Is now the best time to search for those hard to find devices -- such as limit switches?

Your maintenance person has found the problem in the PLC -- the A_SLT_THD_R_LS is not activated! When your machine is losing production, valuable time should not be wasted searching for field devices – time that costs you money! There is a better way! Drive Services, Inc. can produce a digital searchable database using our Visual Device Locator (VDL) program.

Drive Services, Inc. (DSI) produces custom digital documents that allow you to find a field device in seconds rather than hours! We use digital photography, photo enhancing software, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Access, and our custom Visual Device Locator (VDL) to document any device on your machine. You only install our DSI Viewer, which includes your database file, onto your maintenance computer. No other software is needed.

Lets use the example of A_SLT_THD_R_LS. Just launch the viewer and Open your customized database file. OPEN

SELECT FIND FROM THE PULL-DOWN MENU UNDER RECORD

Type A_SLT_THD_R_LS in the dialog box and click on Next.

This is the general location of the device. Click on Next again.

This is the exact location of this device. The more information we gather, the more data that shows up on your searches.

Drive Services will work with you to customize a VDL program that suits your particular needs. Our staff is trained on many PLCs and Drive Systems and we will work with your staff to ensure you get the results you desire. No project is too large or too small. VDL can be customized for any type of PLC, DCS, or Drive System.

Attached to the pictures we can add multiple fields containing any type of information you desire – all searchable! Example of field information would be equipment numbers, part numbers, or device function. The next slide is an example.

Each entry is a different searchable field. You can search by tag name, storeroom number, manufacturer or part number! If you have a bad Allen Bradley pushbutton you can search by part number to find every location it is used. Tag Name: SPL_EJECT_IPB Storeroom Number: Manufacturer & Part Number: Allen Bradley 800TQ10A Function: Ejects the spool after a set is complete, used in rung 2730 of drive PLC

We set up the database to your needs – then you can search by any variable name!

Locate pneumatic valves and other devices used by instrument technicians. Visually locate motors in the plant by motor number - with HP, voltage, amperage and other useful data included in the search results! Visually locate parts in the store room & training tool - so employees know what the part looks like and where to go to get it! Training Tool: Slideshow for familiarization of parts within a system.
