APUSH Course Description Advanced Placement United States History I is a challenging program of study intended to provide foundational knowledge for future college level course work in American History. The course will be divided into five units of study that will provide a chronological framework of American History prior to the arrival of Columbus to the end of Reconstruction. The AP United States History I course requires students to master major historical issues and developments, helping them to recognize the broad trends and processes that have emerged over centuries in what has become the United States. In order to meet this difficult goal, course content and assessments will be organized around seven historical themes that will be explored in depth… Preparation for the AP U.S History Exam!!!

The AP US History Class New exam format- More writing, MC based on primary sources Students need to budget time. Work ahead to keep up with the work Check “School Wires” for any work that needs to be made up- student responsibility!! Book is kept at home to keep up with their work PowerPoints, Presentations, class discussions Classwork/Homework driven!

Grading Policy 75 % Major assessments- Exams/Projects 25% Minor assessments- Homework, Class Participation, Short Presentations Each marking period will be 40% of final grade. Final exam is 20% of final grade.
