Generating and Choosing Solutions

Why is it important to make people comfortable? To stimulate creativity To promote open discussion of ideas

How can you make people comfortable mentally? Team-building activities Promoting physical comfort

Methods used to generate solutions: Go around the room and suggest ideas Send a piece of paper around the room Idea writing Brainstorming

How do you evaluate solutions? Judge each idea independently Modify the solution as needed

Determine if each idea is: Practical Effective Cost-effective Easily put into practice Accepted by all Consistent with other group activities

Ways to make a decision: One person decides and announces One person gathers input and decides The group votes Build consensus among the group

If the discussion doesn’t result in an agreement: Choose a different decision-making possibility Try the nominal group technique Choose not to decide
