The cross-cutting legislation on processes, standards and metadata Version 2 of this EP/Council regulation is currently circulated. The EP/Council Regulation and the implementing measures will regulate the ESS metadata standards, i.e. will make the use of harmonised structural and reference metadata compulsory for the ESS (after a transitional period). Implementing measures are Commission Regulations. Several implementing measures for harmonised metadata are planned (e.g. one for the ESMS, ESQRS etc.). We aim go transmit the draft EP/Council Regulation to the Council and to the EP in the second half of 2012. We will start to discuss the content of the implementing measures soon.
