Warm- Up Nov 4, 2010 Students will complete two CRCT Test Prep questions: 1.The leader of a parliamentary system is chosen by The monarch or king A popular vote of the people A decision by the national court The political party with the most representatives in the legislature 2. The Head of the State in a parliamentary system is often a person who has: No actual power A veto for laws passed by the legislature The most power in the national government A ceremonial role without much actual power  

Activator Students will study notes, graphic organizers and maps for test 5 mins)

Standard/Elements SS7CG5 The student will explain the structures of the national governments of Southwest Asia (Middle East). a. Compare the parliamentary democracy of the State of Israel, the monarchy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the theocracy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, distinguishing the form of leadership and the role of the citizen in terms of voting rights and personal freedoms.  

Essential Question 1.How do autocratic, oligarchic, and democratic governments determine citizen participation? 2.How do the unitary, confederation and federal government systems distribute power?  

Work Period Students will take the government unit test to determine strengths and weaknesses.

Closing Exit Ticket- Students will write about which questions were difficult and what they intend on doing to master the next test.  ( 10 mins)
