Presentation transcript:

Chapter 3: Lesson 3 Order of Operations Objective: Evaluate numerical expressions using the order of operations.

Does it matter if you use order of operations to do math problems??

Order of Operations The expression 6+4×3 is called a numerical expression. To evaluate (or solve) numerical expressions, you must use order of operations. First solve the operations inside the Parenthesis. Evaluate all exponents/powers. Multiply and Divide from left to right. Add and Subtract from left to right.

Examples: 5 + (12 - 3) 8 – 3 × 2 + 7 14 + 3(7-2) 5 × 32 - 7
