The Senate (Upper House) Each state has 2 senators Senators serve 6 year terms Must be 30 years of age and a U.S. citizen for 9 years

The House of Representatives (Lower House) Based on population, according to a census taken every ten years Number is now set at 435 Reps serve 2 year terms Must be 25 years of age and a U.S. citizen for 7 years
