“The Outsiders”- Chapters ________ First Things First Turn to the vocabulary section in your folder. Turn to your next blank chart and label it Chapters 10-12. Now, copy down the following 5 words… delirious, idolize, bewildered, vague, desert Once everyone in your group is finished, advance to the next slide! “The Outsiders”- Chapters ________

First Things First Make sure everyone in your group has access to the middle of your table. Open your bag, take out all the cards, and make sure you have 20 cards with info on them. (If you have blank cards, discard them!!) If you don’t have 20, raise your hand!

Are You “Sort” of Ready? Now, sort your cards into 4 columns. Each column should have 5 cards in each. See the example to the right. For example, there should be a column of pics, 5 to be exact. Make sure your columns are neat and laid out to where everyone can see them. Once you sorted your cards, give each column a name. Write this name on a sticky note. Once finished, raise your hand for Mrs. Autry to check you!

Check it Out! cat Feline* Disclaimer…This week’s vocabulary is obviously being conducted using a new technique. I want to know what you already know!!! Now that your columns have been checked, you are going to pick 1 card from each column and make a quad (4). This quad will include a word, definition, synonym and pic. These should all be related to one another. Example… When you are finished, you should have 9 quads! cat A small domesticated animal with soft fur Feline*

Once your quads have been checked and deemed correct, you are going to transfer your information onto your vocabulary chart. Flip to the next slide to see the exact directions of your “task”. “The Outsiders”- Chapters ________

Your Task You should write down the words, synonyms (put these in the same box with the word…write small), definitions and sketch a pic. Feel free to copy mine!! Make sure the quads stay neat so everyone in your group can see the info.

Your Second Task Complete the following questions…on your own…yes…stop talking!! On a sheet of notebook paper, put your name, period and date in the top right corner and label the top line….”The Outsiders…” Vocabulary Preview – 10-12. Now, answer the following questions. Use your chart to help you… Who do you idolize? It can be a celebrity (music, sports, acting, etc.) or someone like a friend, parent or teacher. Tell their name and 5 reasons WHY you idolize them. What is something you’ve learned in science OR Social Studies OR math class that bewildered you? Tell what topic it was and what you learned about it.
