The project aim To bring together the local self-government representatives and all relevant stakeholders, to cooperate, discuss and working together for improvement of integrated water and nature resource management, thus strengthening their capacities for ecosystem management. Strategic Direction from CEPF: Strategic Direction 2. Establish the sustainable management of water catchments and the wise use of water resources.

The project aim General objective: (Long-term impact): Protection and preservation of Dojran Lake ecosystem Specific objectives: (Short-term impact): Improved understanding of relevant stakeholders on integrated water resource management (IWRM) Increased awareness of the local self-government officials, stakeholders and general public on Dojran Lake ecosystem values Base for future required monitoring of Dojran Lake prepared Regional networking for sharing experience on the best IWRM and nature resource conservation practices 4

Target groups & Stakeholders Local self-government of Municipality of Dojran Students of Biology – current and graduated Primary schools’ students Representatives of hunting and fishing associations, lake concessionaire, farmers, representatives of Public Communal Enterprises, CSOs, tourist operators, representatives of industrial facilities, future potential rangers … Wider public 5

Expected results Awareness raised and knowledge improved for integrated management of waters and nature resources of all relevant stakeholders, via conducting workshops, round tables, discussions, campaigns, open classes in nature etc.; Developed optimized Methodology for monitoring of Dojran Lake; Report on the status of the biological diversity of Dojran Lake; Restored Dojran Lake Museum of nature ; Initial zoning proposal for Monument of Nature – Dojran Lake developed. 14
