Three innovative practices that have been adopted by faculty members in Computer Science division to promote student learning and success Anna Chiang -Faculty advisor and faculty mentor Manish Patel -Internship programs Marcus Butler -Academic alliance with industry leaders

Faculty advisor and faculty mentor One-on-one course advice and career path consultation ->100+ students and prospective students per year On-campus orientation one week before semester starts->30+ students attending per semester Become students’ mentor->listen to their stories Respond to their needs Assist students to file petition for college certificate (60 per year) Encourage students to take IT certification exam (15 per year) Encourage students to apply for graduate school

LA High Tech Coding Boot Camp 2.0 Success Story -LA High Tech Coding Boot Camp (HTCBC) at WLAC is an innovative response to address the acute industry need for coding/programming boot camps. -Spring 2018 West Los Angeles College held a coding boot camp in partnership with industry partners. -Districtwide over 100 student interns from 6 campuses participated in the boot camp and a majority received internships with startups and local companies in Downtown Los Angeles and Silicon Beach. -West had 24 students participating in the Bootcamp
