OFF YOU GO!! Think about the process…

1.Map 2.Instruction sheets 3.Symbol cards 4.Codes - Answers 5.Water-soluble markers 6.PowerPoint Slides for the lesson

1.Get a school map - Simplify the map such that only items/locations that the kids need are on it. (Can be done as you do the next step.) - Indicate North on the map. (Need not be the real north.)

2.Identify a starting point - Find a starting point that will be easy for kids to start off such as an open space. - From the starting point, look for obvious spots for clues. (Use spots that you can easily plan the routes.)

3.Planning of routes -Plan different routes leading to the same locations. To avoid everyone running in the same directions. To prevent herd syndrome

4. Form clues - Give only easily solved clues - Confine locations to a manageable area for safety reasons and keeping the task to a reasonable lesson time.

4.Come up with all the possible answers 5.Laminate all the clue cards and letters (to re-use in future).

1.Put up the laminated symbols only on the day itself before the lesson. 2.Conduct a pre-activity briefing informing pupils of the task, rules of the game and safety rules. 3.Do a demo practice in class to give the class an idea of what to expect.
