XIR ® FACTS XIR® is a spectrally selective film composed of multiple metal and metal oxide layers. The film is encased between two layers of Polyvinyl Butyral (PVB) and glass to make XIR® Heat Reflecting Laminated Glass. XIR® Heat Reflecting Laminated Glass blocks out 99.5% of Ultra Violet radiation and 93% of Infra-red heat, while transmitting 75% of visible light. XIR® Heat Reflecting Laminated Glass reduces the interior temperature of a vehicle without impairing visibility. 75% VLT 99.5% UVR 94% IR \ : XIR® \ : PVB VLT: Visual Light Transmission UVR: Ultra Violet Radiation Block Out IR: Infra-red Heat Block out XIR® Heat Reflecting Laminated Glass XIR® Laminated Glass Performance Data Glass Type Visible Light Transmittance (Tvis) Visible Reflectance Exterior % Total Solar Transmittance (Tsol) Solar Reflectance Exterior % Relative Heat Gain Btus / Hr / Ft2 Ultraviolet Blockage % Clear Glass US Standard Auto Green Tint US Spectrally Absorbing Green XIR® 70 XIR® >99 NOTE: XIR® Laminated Glass is two plies of 2.1 mm clear glass with XIR-PVB interlayer.
