PRACTICAL NURING DIPLOMA Waiting List Qualification Process Updated 7/2017

WAITING LIST Admissions Office in Student Services maintains a single waiting list of 40 students Currently, the wait to start nursing courses is 6 months - 1 ½ year once student qualifies for and places name on a list. Classes are held at the Chester Center for all students; clinicals are held in Chester, Lancaster and York counties. When placing your name on the list, specify if you are from Chester or Lancaster county Students are admitted in the order name was placed on list, according to the date & time.

QUALIFICATION CRITERIA High school diploma or GED on file at the College At least 2.0 PN Program GPA One of the following: COMPASS scores (88 Reading, 70 Writing, 54 Pre-Algebra) ACCUPLACER scores (95 Reading, 75 Sentence Skills, 90 Arithmetic or 57 Elem Algebra) Qualifying ACT or SAT scores – speak with an advisor ‘C’ or better in RDG 101, ENG 100, & MAT 032 In addition to meeting one of the above criterion, the student must complete the standardized TEAS (Test of Essential Academic Skills) test with a score of ‘Proficient’ (test must be no more than 3 years old at the time student seeks admission into the PN program)

BIO 210 & 211 Students are permitted 2 attempts to successfully complete each class. Unsuccessful attempt = grade of ‘W’, ‘D’, or ‘F’ We check this prior to list placement and at the end of each semester. If student has had more than 2 attempts in one of these classes, they must wait 5 years from most recent attempt in order to qualify for list.

MAINTAINING PLACE ON LIST AT THE END OF EACH SEMESTER, ADMISSIONS OFFICE CHECKS TO MAKE SURE EACH STUDENT ON A PN WAITING LIST IS STILL ELIGIBLE TO BE ON THE LIST. Program GPA (2.0 or higher) BIO 210 & 211 (no more than 2 attempts per course)

LPN-to-ADN Transition Program Students interested in transitioning into the ADN program upon completion of the PN Diploma must meet the additional qualification criteria for the ADN program. Articulation into the ADN program is neither automatic nor is it guaranteed. See the most current YTC Catalog & Handbook for details.
