2. CCP provides a pathway for eligible juniors and seniors to begin their college work during high school. Students are able to accelerate his/her completion of college certificates, diplomas and associate degrees that lead to college transfer or provide entry-level job skills. What is the Career and College Promise?

Pender County Schools Policy “...may participate in dual enrollment to take approved courses at institutions accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools or its regional equivalent including Institutions of Higher Education (IHE) and North Carolina Virtual Public Schools (NCVPS), while completing high school graduation requirements.”

4. Pender County Schools Policy Books, materials, student fees, and transportation required of the student, are the responsibility of the student and the parent or guardian. Students taking CCP courses are not required to pay tuition....the student will be responsible for providing the school with an official transcript as evidence of course completion.

6. College Transfer Pathways Eligibility Requirements  Be a high school junior or senior;  Have a weighted GPA of 3.0 on high school courses; and….. College readiness evidenced by a placement score (PLAN, PSAT, ACT, SAT, Accuplacer)

7. College Transfer Pathways Provisional Eligibility Criteria... junior or senior who does not demonstrate college-readiness.... may be provisionally enrolled... To qualify for Provisional Status, a student must meet the following criteria:  Cumulative weighted GPA of 3.5;  Completed two years of high school English with a grade of ‘C’ or higher;  Completed high school Math II (or a higher level math class) with a grade of ‘C’ of higher;  Obtain the written approval of the high school principal or his/her designee; and,  Obtain the written approval of the community college president or his/her designee.

8. To Maintain Eligibility in CCP For continued enrollment, a student must: a.Continue to make progress toward high school graduation, and b.Maintain a 2.0 GPA in college coursework after completing two courses. c.Must take at least one course on THS campus

9. Dual Credit for College Transfer Courses College Transfer Pathways May receive high school honors credit for community college courses completed in a College Transfer Pathway.

13. What is the student’s role in CCP? Submit admissions application to Mrs. Wullenwaber Meet with Mrs. Wullenwaber to verify eligibility Register on CFCC webpage to take Accuplacer if necessary When acceptance letter is received, set up CFCC email account and complete online orientation or attend New Student Orientation at downtown location. Register for class(es) on designated date Attend class Inform Mrs. Wullenwaber immediately of any schedule changes, or if no longer participating in CCP program.

15. Frequently Asked Questions Will the classes students take at CFCC transfer to NCSU, UNC, and other colleges? According to the CAA, yes. All the state universities and many of the private universities in NC accept the community college classes as the general education requirements. Students should check with colleges outside of NC. How do the CCP courses compare to AP? The college transfer courses carry honors credit (5 points) where AP courses (6 points). The CTE courses carry standard credit. With AP courses, students must score a 3 or higher on the AP exam to receive college credit. However, students who make a C or higher on the community college Core 44 (college transfer) courses, they will receive honors HS credit and college credit. Do the grades that students receive in the community college course count on their high school GPA? Yes. Course grades will become part of the high school and college transcript. The courses will be counted as high school electives.
