ECE 477 Digital Systems Senior Design Project  Spring 2006 Team 9 / Motion Tracking System Project Overview Camera module sends pixel data to microcontroller Microcontroller calculates image difference data and runs through motion detection algorithm Servo motors aim the laser pointer at the location motion is detected CMOS image sensor sends pictures to the microcontroller Microcontroller compares each picture to a reference frame to find new objects Calibration routine available at start up Potentiometers vary PWM width to aim servo motors Values taken from each of 3 objects and used to calculate slope and offset values Laser pointer mounted on servo motors System will target the center of the largest object Laser enabled only when motion detected Used timer channels to create low frequency pulse waves Servos responsible for aiming laser at target LCD screen used to display messages to user Can control system using push buttons Digijock(ette)-Strength Digital System DesignTM
