4 GENERAL VİEW GENERAL VİEW The main objective of our project is to design an instrument that measures height of a person or an object standing some meters away. 6 ARDUNIO UNO ARDUNIO UNO In our project we aim to use arduino uno microprocessor that will control the servo motor, LCD Display and Ultrasonic sensor. To control these parts we write a code in arduino software and then we upload it to microcontroller. 7 ULTRASONİC SENSOR ULTRASONİC SENSOR We will use Ultrasonic sensor HC- SR04.Ultrasonic sensors (they both send and receive sound) work on a principle similar to radar or sonar. Ultrasonic sensors generate high frequency sound waves and evaluate the echo which is received back by the sensor. Sensors calculate the time interval between sending the signal and receiving the echo to determine the distance to an object.

8 SERVO MOTOR LCD Display Arduino will measure the height of an object after that it displays this data on LCD. We will use servo motor in our project to move the ultrasonic sensor by fixed amount of degrees. We will use servo motor in our project to move the ultrasonic sensor by fixed amount of degrees.

9 Plan Of The Project We aim the ultrasonic sensor to the base of an object using a LASER, arduino saves the distance to the base, after that a push button is pressed and system starts to scan an object by rotating the sensor by 10 degrees (can be modified). When sensor detects objects top part it stops scanning. Distance to the top is saved by arduino. Using the amount of steps made by servo motor, angle between bottom, sensor and top is determined. Using cosine theorem arduino calculates the heihgt of scanned object.

11 What will we do? Until this time,we were focusing on construction and how we can do our project and ordering main components.
