The Skeletal and Muscular Systems Chapter 3 Lesson 2

Bones for Support Muscles for Movement Skeletal system is a framework of bones and other tissues that supports the body. It is made up of 206 bones. The skeletal system gives your body structure and helps protect internal organs. The Muscular System

Bones for Support Muscles for Movement The muscular system consists of tissues that move parts of the body and operate internal organs. The human body has over 600 muscles. Your muscles supply power to move your body. Joints are the place where two or more bones meet.

Connective Tissues Joints are the place where two or more bones meet. Cartilage allows for joints to move, cushions bones, supports soft tissue. Ligaments hold bones in place at the joints. Tendons join muscle to muscle or muscle to bone. Example: Achilles.

Caring for Your Skeletal and Muscular System Participate in regular exercise Eat good foods Practice good posture Lift objects carefully Treat injuries quickly
