Value An Art Element that refers to the lightness or darkness of a color or tone.

Contrast An Art Principle that refers to the difference between or among the art elements used. Values Colors Shapes

Stippling Using dots and their proximity to each other to create value.

Hatching Using lines and their proximity to one another to create value.

Crosshatching Using lines, line direction, and their proximity to each other to create value.

Pointillism Using pure colored dots placed next to each other to create value and/or the illusion of different colors.
