Structure of the heart The heart contains 4 hollow structures. The top 2 are called atrium. The bottom 2 are called ventricles

How the heart works When the heart contracts it squeezes blood out of the heart and into the arteries. When the heart relaxes it fills with blood from the veins. Valves in the heart make sure the blood flows the correct way.
