Structure of a Solid -Attractive forces tend to hold the particles of a solid in a relatively fixed positions, with only vibrational movement. -Has a definite shape and volume -Unlike liquids, solids have a much more ordered structure.

Solids Come in 2 Forms Crystalline Solids- These solids consist of crystals or groups of crystals fused together, and are held together by their crystal structure. These particles are organized in a coordinate system called a lattice. b Amorphous Solids- Solids that are not arranged into regular patterns. Formed in a way that prevents crystalline structures from taking shape. Examples of such solids include glasses and plastics.

Other Information -Solids have a definite melting point. -Solids have various molecular structures, some of which form crystalline substances. -If a solid lacks this rigid structure, but its still has other properties of a solid, it is considered an amorphous solid.
