IEPPEC Conference Moderators Cara Lee Mahany Braithwait February 2018

Welcome! And Thank You Peer reviewed abstract process and reviewed papers Your efforts make the difference between a “ho hum paper” and a paper that contributes to our community?

This Webcast Covers Your role and responsibilities Resources Pre-event On-site Review process Presentation forensics

Resources: Pre-Event For content/event issues: Me—content (and I will direct questions to the chairs) samb@caenergy.com Kris—registration, fees, website kachitwood@lrca.com

Your Role and Responsibilities Leader of the pack Final authority on paper submission Session leader Session “storyteller”

Your Role: Central Point for Communications Yes, it is old fashion, but call your speakers Review timelines and expectations (on the web) Talk about how the papers will fit together

Timeline IEPPEC Checklist: Final Paper Instructions Use this list as a final check before submitting your materials to your Moderator Paper Preparation Schedule DRAFTS By 26 February You should e-mail your 1st draft paper to your Moderator and your fellow session authors. At the same time, you should receive papers from these colleagues--if you don't get papers, please contact them and your Moderator. 11 March You review your session’s author’s papers and send comments to your Moderator. No later than 16 March Your Moderator is responsible for compiling the comments from your colleagues and working with you to incorporate these comments into your 1st draft. No later than 4 April Send your 2nd draft paper to your Moderator. Moderator decides if more work is required. 15 April If more work is required, papers will be sent to other session authors. Second set of comments on papers due to your moderator by 15 April. No later than 20 April Moderator compiles comments and works with you to incorporate comments into your final draft. FINAL PAPER Between 20 April and 15 May You and your Moderator should agree on the disposition of your final submission. 15 May Submit a PDF version of your paper to your moderator. They will submit it to us at iepec@caenergy.com. We will be posting the papers on our website. Please note, if you do not submit a paper, you will not be allowed to make a presentation at the conference. Timeline

By February 26(or thereabouts) Author sends their paper to other authors ~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~ Author 1 Author 3 ~~~~~~~ Author 2 Once done with their review they send reviews to you Moderator

Review Questions Review Questions Yes No Comments Should it be reviewed again by the Session Moderator prior to publication? Is it a new and original contribution? Does it give adequate references to related work? (Please suggest key references that were omitted) Is it clearly presented and well organized? Does it contain material that might well be omitted? If so, what? Are the conclusions sound and justified? Are the illustrations and tables all necessary and adequate?

Moderator Sends back comments No later than April 28 (or thereabouts) You compile comments and return papers to authors ~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~ Moderator Sends back comments

No paper, no podium—but always talk with me if warranted

Your author wants to know… Answers are on the website, titled “presenter resources”: http://www.ieppec.org/speaker-resources/

Email to samb@caenergy.com If you have a problem paper… ~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~ Email to samb@caenergy.com ~~~~~~~ Moderator
