Indication of Publication Pattern of Scientometrics I-Hsin Lin1#, Yu-Ting Feng1, Wei-Yen Liang1 and Yuh-Shan Ho2* 1School of Public Health, Taipei Medical University 2Bibliometric Centre, Taipei Medical University - Wan-Fang Hospital Introduction Among 5,969 journals indexed by Science Citation Index (SCI) in 2004. Scientometrics was indexed by SCI since 1978 and was categorized in computer science, interdisciplinary applications. It ranked 24th in 83 journals in 2004 with the impact factor 1.120. Scientometrics was also listed in the category of information science & library science in Social Science Citation Index (SSCI) in 2004. The objective of the study was to perform a bibliometric analysis of all publications in Scientometrics. In this study, volume 1, issue 1 to volume 66, issue 3 was evaluated covering period from 1978 to 2005. Methods Documents used in this study were based on the databases of the SCI which was accessed from the ISI Web of Science. Scientometrics were used as keyword to search journal. Results A total of 2,055 papers were published in Scientometrics with 11,100 citations from 69 countries during the time span from 1978 to 2005. Fourteen document types were found in the total of 2,055 documents that were published by 69 countries. 83% were dominated by article, 4.5% book review, 3.6% note, 3.4% editorial material, and 1.5% review. USA has dominated article production (17%) and followed by Netherland (9.7%). The 3 most productive corresponding author countries were the US, Netherland, and India. The Belgium was the most frequent partner accounting for comprising 29% of the international collaborative articles followed by USA with 21%, and Germany with 20%. The National Institute of Science, Technology and Development Studies (NISTADS) at India produced most corresponding author institute articles.
