Types of Credit Articulated Credit Direct Credit Dual Enrollment Credit

Articulated Credit ARTICULATED CREDIT-A process where instructors from both secondary and post secondary meet and compare curriculum, syllabi and course descriptions. Articulation agreements are formed when there is a mirror image in the two curricula. When articulation credit appears on college transcripts varies between institutions. Some colleges require the student to successfully complete one or more classes and other colleges grant the credit upon admission. Generally students do not pay for articulated credit.

Direct Credit DIRECT CREDIT- A process that provides students with the opportunity to take college level courses in high school and are generally taught by college faculty or high school teachers who are adjunct college faculty. The exact college course syllabi, textbook and assessments are used in delivering the curriculum. Once the course is successfully complete, the student has a college transcript at the granting institution. Students receive both high school and college credit. Students generally pay a reduced tuition per credit.

Direct Credit Agreements Teacher Cadet Programs at Owosso and Durand High Schools with Direct Credit to University of Michigan. The Shiawassee RESD Countywide Health Science Academy Direct Credit to Baker College.

Dual Enrollment Credit DUAL ENROLLMENT- A process that provides students with the opportunity to take college level courses on campus, taught by college faculty while the student is still enrolled in high school. Once the course is successfully complete, the student has a college transcript at the granting institution. The college course would replace a high school course on the student’s schedule and transcript. Students receive both high school and college credit. Students may pay tuition per credit depending on the agreement with the school district and the postsecondary partner.

Dual Enrollment Credit Agreements Shiawassee RESD Countywide Programs provide Dual Enrollment credit from Baker College Automotive Services I & II Computer Networking Graphic Web Design HVAC Intro To Health Occupations

Region 15 Promotional Activities Harvest Media Works has been contracted to design web site for the Genesee/Shiawassee Tech Prep Region highlighting all CTE Programs. Content will include why/what/where/how of earning early college credit. Information links to local districts, colleges, etc. Information for students, parents, and teachers on early college credit, CTE, college options, tech center programs.
