Updated: Full Barrier Isolation Don / Doff Using N95 and Hood 10/2014 UMMC / UMCH / UMP Donning with N95 No personal items in room; e.g. jewelry, cell phone Perform hand hygiene Don 1st pr. Gloves (sterile): Tuck under gown sleeve Don Shoe cover/booties Don Gown ED/ICU/OB: Don apron Don N95 mask Don Head cover Don 2nd pr. Gloves (sterile) Over gown sleeve Don Face-shield Monitor verifies correct PPE Disinfect gloves Enter room Doffing with N95 Disinfect with PDI wipes or foam or gel between all steps Disinfect visibly contaminated PPE Disinfect outer gloves Remove apron if used: rolling inside out, away from body BUDDY assist with bootie removal (nurse sitting) Disinfect outer glove & remove: if inner glove is compromised- followed detailed list with “Monitor” Remove Face-shield Remove head cover BUDDY unties the “outer waste tie” Remove gown: Grasp at shoulder/pulling as you roll off and “breaking” the inside tie as you roll outside of gown “inward” folding outside layer away from your body. Remove gloves as you are rolling gown off arms: roll gloves into gown. Avoid outside of contaminated gown Perform hand hygiene Exist room then apply clean gloves and remove N95 Disinfect all shoe surfaces with wipe (while sitting) Disinfect gloves, remove gloves & perform hand hygiene Visitors: Must be instructed by Monitor before entering room: only 1 at a time
