About Ingeus We work in 12 countries around the world delivering employability and skills services for local and national government. Since 2002 we’ve helped support more than 215,000 clients into work and have support 37,000 learners to achieve qualifications. We’ve been delivering employability programmes in Scotland since 2007 and have helped 40.000 clients into work. We are the largest provider of the Work Programme, the Government’s flagship initiative to reduce long-term unemployment. We also provide employers with a high-quality, cost-free recruitment service, focusing on staff retention. We work with an extensive network of local and specialist partner organisations from the third, private and public sectors.

A mandatory skills contract funded by the Department for Work & Pensions and provided by Ingeus in Scotland We deliver it as Language Lift Two years initial delivery agreed, followed by possibility of extension Focused on improving the speaking and listening skills of speakers of English as a second or other language in order to help them look for employment An additional opportunity for new JSA claimants to gain a recognised SQA qualification What is ELR?

Who is eligible? New JSA Claimants aged 18+ (UC Claimants from May 2015 onwards) Speakers of English as a Second or Other Language

Referral Process Qualification Classes Assessment (PCA) PCA Referral JSA Claimant Presents at JCP with low level English speaking/ listening ability PCA Referral JCP Work Coach refers claimant to Ingeus for diagnostic assessment Assessment (PCA) Claimant attends diagnostic assessment (adapted from ESOL Scotland) delivered by qualified ESOL tutor. If speaking and listening at or above Access 3, claimant returns to JCP. If below Access 3, ESOL Tutor decides whether claimant will work towards an Access 2 or Access 3 SQA qualification. Classes Claimant joins ELR course as a Language Lift learner Course focuses on improving listening and speaking Learner attends core classes of 7.5 hours per week Extra one to one and small group support is available, as required/ appropriate (up to 16 hours per week) Learner has access to specially designed British Council materials on our website plus a range of supplementary materials adapted by our teachers Classes start every Monday Learner and Tutor discuss and update ILP every two weeks Qualification Within 20 weeks learner will take summative assessment at Access 2 or Access 3 Learner returns to JCP to continue looking for work Learner may be signposted to college or other provision that is non mandatory JCP can now work more quickly with their claimant to find work.
