Computer Lab Directions for Electricity Projects Miss Kefgen’s 8th Grade Science Class

WHAT ARE WE DOING IN HERE? Computer lab time is all about finding and printing the titles/labels/pictures for your electricity project. With only 2 days to print, I expect you to find/create everything you could need for the decorative part of your project (worth 50 points!!!!) because you will not be able to print anything else during science class after these 2 computer lab days are done.

WHAT ARE YOU ALLOWED TO DO? Listen to music with headphones. Pick your own seat... And stay there! Talk quietly with your friends. Get work done!!!

WHAT ARE YOU NOT ALLOWED TO DO? Waste my classroom time! I don’t want to hear the excuses of “I’m going to do this at home” or “I’m going to do this during another class” or “I’m going to do this at ACE” This is a science project taking place during science class time… no excuses! Use the computers for anything other than the electricity project. Be too loud or distract others from working. Get out of your seat other than when collecting a print job (if you have a question, raise your hand and stay in your seat).

PRINTING RULES Save paper by copying and pasting multiple images onto one piece of paper before printing VS.

PRINTING RULES Make sure that everything you print is school appropriate! No foul/inappropriate language No images of people wearing inappropriate clothing (if you can’t wear it at Parcells, you can’t put a picture of it on your project) No images of violence No images of drugs/alcohol Use this rule to help you decide: If Mr. Wolf walked in right now and saw your work, would you be in trouble? If the answer is yes, DON’T PRINT IT!

PRINTING RULES Make sure you print to the correct printer for the computer lab you are currently in. You will be interrupting another class if you print to the wrong printer, so please send everything to your own lab’s printer. If something goes wrong with the printer and you can’t print today… SAVE YOUR WORK!!!! You can print it after school or email it to yourself at home to print.

All hours are in LAB 213:

SO LET’S GO OVER THE COMPUTER LAB EXPECTATIONS ONE MORE TIME Stay in your own seat. Speak at a quiet volume (you are right next to the people around you, no need to shout). Stay on task. Print to the correct printer.

WHAT IF I FINISH EARLY? If you finish with everything, raise your hand to ask the teacher if you can play games online. However, the teacher does not have to let you play games… it is a privilege, not a guaranteed right! So if your behavior was a problem it will affect your free time. Remember that the volume still needs to be controlled and you still have to stay in your own seat, so no multiplayer games. If you finish early and are not given the permission to play games, you can log off and quietly talk with your neighbors.
