What steps do scientists often use to solve problems? Page 6 What is Science? A process that uses observation and investigations to gain knowledge about events in nature. Scientific Method: An organized set of investigation procedures used by Scientists.

What steps do scientists often use to solve problems? Hypothesis: A testable prediction Experiment: An organized procedure for testing a hypothesis. Independent variable: The factor that is tested & changed. (x-axis)

What steps do scientists often use to solve problems? Dependent variable: The factor that is observed, or changed by the independent variable. (y-axis) Control variable: The factor that stays the same for a fair test.

What steps do scientists often use to solve problems? Scientific Law VS. Scientific Theory Explanation based on experiments- logical explanation. “Black Hole Theory” Rule of nature that describes a pattern & seems to always be true. “Law of Gravity”
