Section 15.1 Selecting Your Clothes People wear clothes out of necessity and to make a personal statement. You can expand your wardrobe when you add accessories and evaluate what you already have. 2

Clothing Choices Clothing choices change but the purpose stays the same. Clothes protect you from weather and injury. Clothes can be used as adornment, or decoration.

Clothing Choices A uniform can identify you as part of a group. Your sense of modesty can influence the clothes you wear. Designer labels, logos, and symbols can reveal one’s status. modesty The belief about the proper way to cover the body with clothes. status Rank in relation to others; position in society.
