For example, IEEE Std 488.2-1992 was reaffirmed in 2004. Therefore, the document must be reviewed by 2009. Of course, if the need arises, a document can be revised earlier. Once a PAR is initiated to revise an IEC-IEEE standard, the Program Manager, International Standards Programs will notify the IEC Central Office, the IEC Technical Committee Chair and the IEC Technical Committee Secretary that the IEEE would like to revise the document.
