Homework C-7 due tomorrow Complete Han Dynasty documents for tomorrow. Test on China on Friday 20 multiple choice questions Evidence Based Claim Review sheet can be turned in on Thursday for extra credit.

I. Legalism in the Qin Dynasty 2. He used censorship and repression to control his people. What did the Qin Dynasty do to any books or historical records that came from before the Qin Dynasty or contained non-Legalist ideas? What did it do to any individuals (like Confucian scholars) who disagreed with the ideas of Legalism or tried to preserve non-Legalist texts? Why do you think the Qin Dynasty chose to do this? Do you think these policies did more to increase or decrease Qin Shi Huangdi’s power? Why?

Aim #9: Should the Han Dynasty be considered a Golden Age? Do Now: Under Legalism, the people of China gave up many of their rights and freedoms in order to get a stronger, more stable government. Do you think this philosophy ultimately improved life in China? Why or why not?

Question 9 Han rulers introduce civil service examinations → To get government jobs, individuals were tested on their knowledge of Confucian beliefs (recorded in the Analects) as well as Chinese history and law. What do you think was the purpose of choosing government officials in this way?
