The industrial revolution The steam engine and mining

Thomas Newcomen Thomas Newcomen was the creator of the first steam engine which was coal powered. When the fire heats up to make the steam, the steam goes through a cylinder and piston. Over the years the first steam engine created by Thomas Newcomen was improved by other inventors.

James Watt James watt made improvements on the steam engine created by Thomas newcomen. James watt improved the efficiency of the steam engine by designing a condensing chamber that prevented large losses of steam.

Abraham Darby was an important role in the industrial revolution because of idea of producing iron with coke instead of regular charcoal which Is made from coal with a high carbon amount. Abraham Darby

A lot of the british economy was due to iron which was not efficient to make in britian and was mostly imported there. Iron was originally created using charcoal but as advancements went on, the people started using coke instead to make the process easier. Iron

During the 18th century, the owners of the mine used children to get the coal out of the mines because adults were too tall to get into and out of the mines. Some coal mines were over 100 feet down under. Most of the coal was used to power steam engines or to heat homes. Coal mining
