3 Results of enclosure  Output rose  Profits rise with need of fewer workers  Worker migration to cities (provides labor force for industrial revolution)  Population increases dramatically  Food surplus – better health, live longer, more children

4 New Technology  New sources of energy  Water wheel to coal and the steam engine  Invented by Newcomen applied by James Watt to operate machinery and powering locomotive and steamships  Used to produce iron for the construction of machines  Abraham Darby used coal to smelt iron  Less expensive and better quality iron
