Beaver The Gnawing Animal Power Point by: Taylor

Introduction Beavers are mammals they are also rodents. Its scientific name is Castor Canadensis. There is different kinds of beavers

Physical Features Beavers have small ears. They also have small eyes. Beavers have a big body. Small arms and hands. They have webbed feet. Usually biggest rodent. Beavers have a lot of fur. They have big flat tails.

Life Span/Endangered or not Beavers are not endangered. Their life span is 24 years.

Habitat Beavers live in Asia, Europe, Canada, and United State’s. They have under water entrances. They live near water and woods.

Climate Beavers live cold places. It will snow in winter. It can rain any time of year.

Food Beavers are herbivores. They like leaves, bark, twigs, and roots. They only eat plants. They like cambium a soft tissue near the top layer of wood.

Prey The things that eat beavers are Wolfs, Otters, Foxes, Coyotes, Bears.

Behavior Beavers are mammals. They are also rodents. They knock down trees. They build dams and hide in them when in danger.

Reproduction Baby beavers are called kits. Kits know how to swim and walk when born. Kits Wight about 0.5 to 1.5 pounds.

Physical Adaptations Beavers have two layers of skin to keep warm. They have flaps of skin in ears and nose. The tail helps it on land and water.

Behavioral Adaptations They store food under water for winter. Beavers slap tail on water to tell other beavers of danger.

Physiological Adaptations Beavers have an orange coating to keep there teeth from getting damaged There webbed feet help them get throw the water. Beavers have an clear eye lid so that they could see under water

Fun Facts In the water beavers tail’s can turn four ways. From the day they don’t stop gnawing. They can change there own land scape on there own.
