Rendering Plastic

Have begun to experiment with glass texture rendering. Lesson Objectives To learn how to apply texture to a drawing to give an idea of the material an object is made from. Success Criteria Must Be able to show an understanding of how to render plastic texture and tone onto the organ case. Should Have applied a background to your sheet to show that the case is resting on a surface. Could Have begun to experiment with glass texture rendering. * Have drilled your PCB. Objectives

Rendering Plastic 1) Pick a bright primary colour and use a ruler to draw in a vertical line down the middle of the plastic. 2) Shade dark areas at the edge of the plastic. Be sure to leave a white gap in between the middle line and the dark edges. 3) Shade lighter patches between the edges and the middle line, leaving a white gap either side of the middle line.

Applying your skills… Your case is not floating in mid air. Render a surface for it to rest on.

Applying your skills… Use your knowledge of light, medium and dark tones (and how to render plastic) to colour and shade your casing sheet and background.

Rendering transparent textures Textures like glass and clear plastic can also be used on your drawing but it is important to consider what you can see through the material. Draw your lines very carefully and gently so that they can be erased if you make a mistake.
