Geographers begin to study place by finding where it is, or its location.
Two Types of Location: 1.Absolute Location 2. Relative Location
Absolute Location Absolute location describes a place’s exact position on earth. Some call absolute location a geographic address.
Geographers identify the absolute location by using two types of imaginary lines around the Earth: latitude and longitude.
Example 1: Coordinates Morehead City’s Absolute Location is: 34.7229° N, 76.7260° W
Example 2: Address 400 Barbour Rd. Morehead City, NC 28557
Relative Location Relative location explains where a place is by describing a place near it.
Example: Morehead City is about 40 miles from Jacksonville.
