Instruction Point Of View : The third person ( ‘I’ leads this story) The Characters : ‘I’, ‘he’, ‘his father’ * The Situation - ‘He’ come to funeral to bury his father ‘I’ met him at his father’s funeral at the funeral that ‘I’’s parents have. - This story is conveyed by ‘I’ telling the story what ‘I’ heard about the relationship him and his father from him.

What happened to him and his father? His father left him when he was a boy and they had little contact until about a year ago. His father sent a birthday card saying he would like to see his son again.   So he tried to visit his father to Florida with his wife and children. But every time his plan cancelled for some reasons. One day he got a call from his father’s neighbor and learned his father was taken to the hospital with heart problems but he was recovering well. After this event, they contacted each other more often and became closer. But still didn’t meet.

The son heard his father died and came to bury him The son heard his father died and came to bury him. He met the ‘I’ at the funeral and talked with him. He said to him that he should have come sooner to see his father and cried.   ‘I’ realized that it was really valuable that ‘I’ had his father next to him. So that night, ‘I’ asked his dad to play golf with him the next day. And before he went to bed, he told him, “I love you, Dad.”

Personal Opinion The lesson this story give us and what this story reminds us is one thing. We should be grateful for what we already have. We take everything around us for granted no matter it is relationship, situation and belongings. We realize how meaningful and valuable they were when they finally disappear. Realize the importance and preciousness of present before your life makes you realize with harder time.

My story My parents came into my mind after reading this story. When I was young I hated my parents because they were very cold to me. So I used to think that they didn’t love me, and I closed my mind to my parents. Especially, I hated my father because he often came home drunk late at night. So, I disliked living with my father. In 2014, I went to Russia through an overseas experience program for one year. A few months later I found my parents’ love for me that I didn’t know before.

My story They’ve always opened their minds to me. The problem however was that my mind was just closed to them, and I couldn’t see their love and ignored their hearts until now. After that, on my birthday, at the first time I called my parents and I said to them, “Thank you for being my parents.” Now I’m very happy with my mom and dad and living happily more than any family!
