3 Summary A boy, whose parents owned the funeral home and wanted to become a golfer, met a man at a funeral. The man was alone with his father's body and cried. The boy offered water, and then the man opened his heart to him. So, the boy listened the story about the man's father. They did not live together until the man became an adult. His father wanted to meet his growing son, so sent a birthday card to him. The man sent a reply to his father and heard back soon. But father's letter with poor grammar and incorrect punctuation made him embarrassed. He hesitated to go to meet him. Furthermore, the plan had to be postponed because of some schedule. After that, few contacts was connected and that was all. But their conversation became better after his father was sick because of heart attack. The man called his father every few days and They gave and took gifts. His wife told the man to visit his father. That night, the boy asked his dad to play golf with him, and said But the man could meet his father when he died. "I love you, dad." The man regretted to make his father alone. promised to meet him someday.

It was written in black pen. (The way of the pen) It was written with a black pen. (Have) (Form) Write your essays in pen not pencil. Write your essays with a pen not a pencil.

P.96 line 16: ~and he collapsed in my arms, sobbing Squad [skw ɑ :d] *A squad is a section of a police force that is responsible for dealing with a particular type of crime. P.95 line 3: ~made the cheerleading squad at her school and had to go to a camp conducted for cheering techniques.

As luck would have it *used to say that a particular situation or fact makes you sad or disappointed, or gets you into a difficult position. P.96 line 3:As luck would have it, however, ….

13 Grammar A past participle indicates past or completed action or time. It is often called the 'ed' form as it is formed by adding d or ed, to the base form of regular verbs, however it is also formed in various other ways for irregular verbs It can be used to form a verb phrase as part of the present perfect tense. p.94-line 2~5 Father and son hadn't seen each other in years. In fact, according to the son, his father had left when he was a boy, and they had had little contact until about a year ago, when his father had sent him a birthday card with a not saying he'd like to see his son again. Had p.p(The past perfect tense)

14 The participles A participle is a word formed from a verb that can function as part of a verb phrase. There are three forms of participle: The present participle, the past participle and the perfect participle. !Note - We use past participles (-ed) to describe how we feel. We use present participles [-ing] to describe what caused the feelings. p.95-line 1 The man was embarrassed for his father.

15 Thought On Essay Na Kyeong : This story makes me think about my father and me. My father works in Seoul so, we don't live together and contact a little. But, I think I have to try making more contact with him, and being a nice daughter for him. Jin A : There is a right time for everything. As the proverb goes. When one would be filial, one’s parents are gone. This story made a small impression on me. Because i had already thought that cherish the time with parents.
