MLA

A type of formatting used typically for English, and sometimes in Social Studies

Heading

a title at the top of a page of writing

Thesis

A statement or theory that is put forward as a premise to be maintained or proven

Conventions

Spelling, punctuation, grammar, paragraphing

Claims/ Counterclaims

A statement or assertion that something is the case/truth, or not the case/truth

Evidence

The available body of facts or information indicating whether a belief or proposition is true or valid

Citations

Quotations from a reference to a book, paper, or author, esp Quotations from a reference to a book, paper, or author, esp. in a scholarly work

Synthesize

To combine many parts into a whole

Credible

Able to be believed; convincing

Sources

Places, people, or things from which something, or some information can be obtained

Organization

Arranged in a structured order; to coordinate best in order to make a complete argument (in writing)

Style

A way of expressing oneself (through writing)

Tone

The general attitude of a piece of writing, or a situation, etc.

Audience

The listeners or spectators; the intended readers
