The Nile river Location: Egypt and Sudan Uses: Soil along the river was used to produce food for themselves and the animals to keep up there livestock Impact on trade: waterways for transporting tourist and exports Also is the worlds largest river

Ratios and proportions 680,000 gallons of water is discharged from the Nile river to the Mediterranean sea per second. If this continued for 30 seconds what would be our ratio and how many gallons of water would be discharged in to the Mediterranean Sea? How many would be discharged in a hour?

The formation of the Nile River The Nile River was formed by the Blue Nile, The White Nile, and the Atbara According to Encyclopedia Britannica, the Nile River was formed 65 million years ago. The White Nile starts at Lake Victoria, it is a lot bigger than the Blue Nile but it only contributes to 15% of the Nile. The Blue Nile originated from Lake Tana it contributes to 85% of the Nile.

Nonliving The Nile provided water for the Egyptians. During the summer, heavy rain was in the Ethiopian Highlands which caused flooding and was excellent for the soil to plant seeds. The Nile was also the quickest way to travel to different places. The flood allowed crops to easily grow. The Nile provided water for bathing and cooking. The Egyptians called the soil The Gift of the Nile.

Living The Nile contained fish which the Egyptians hunted for food. They also caught birds the flew across the water surface. The landform provided water so their crops could grow.

Additional Notes and research The Nile no longer floods today due to the construction of the Aswan Dam. It still does have great farming soil and lots of farmers to take advantage of it. A lot of people visit the river today.
