AIM OF THIS TALK: Inform about the future involvement of candidate countries in the Urban Audit

Urban Audit for CCs Grants to NSIs foreseen under PHARE 2001 project 10 countries BG, CZ, EE, HU, LT, LV, PL, RO, SI, SK Malta and Cyprus (and Turkey): separate solution 2 phases in different PHARE projects

When ? Launch of phase 1 in May/June 2003 (PHARE 2001) We need all application forms! Agreement form to be signed later Annex with “Terms of References” will be updated with official dates when available Final report phase 1 in beginning of 2004

What ? Define spatial units at 3 levels (phase 1) Go through variable list (phase 1) Compile data available at NSI (phase 1) Compile data from other sources (phase 2) Estimate variables (phase 2)

How ? National statistical office gets grant NUAC keep close contact with Eurostat (National Urban Audit Co-ordinator) NUAC participates in meetings and workshops

Progress Selection of cities well advanced Several countries started SCD definitions LUZ also started in several countries Please look at variable list before the holidays!

Cyprus, Malta and Turkey CY, MT are participating on their own accounts Turkey still to be discussed
