5 HBS 2015 Data not received 1 DK-Denmark
Promised to send the data by the end of April 2017 2 CY-Cyprus Promised to send the data during 2017 Q2 3 MT-Malta Promised to send the data during 2017 Q3 4 IT-Italy 5 LT-Lithuania Promised to send the data during 2017 Q4 6 UK-United Kingdom 7 FI-Finland Promised to send the data during 2018 Q1 8 FR-France Promised to send the data during 2018 Q4

6 Problems encountered Consumption Expenditure Variables
Income Variables Essential variables required to build Indicators Formatting and Type miss-match problems *

7 Consumption Expenditure Variables
2-Digit HE (Consumption Expenditure) totals not provided The Hierarchy of HE Variables from 5-digit up to 2-digit totals, was not always consistent HE variables were not Annualised

8 Income Variables Income Variables were not Annualised
Missing Income Variables e.g. HH099

9 Essential variables required to build Indicators
Certain variables required to build the Eurobase Tables for HBS 2015 were not delivered by some countries The most important of these variables were: HC24, HD20, HH032, HB074, HB05, HB062, HC04, HA09 & HI12 Some countries provided an age-range rather than a real 'Age' variable This results in Geo. Zone Aggregates (EU28/EA18 etc.) either having to be estimated or simply not calculated.

10 Formatting and Type miss-match problems
In some cases the Household ID was missing, had a different name or different Char Type in the HH basic & HH member file Variables sent as CHAR rather than NUM format & vice versa Invalid characters contained within Variables Names Some files contained a decimal-comma rather than a dot Some files had duplicate Variable Names inside Variable Names in Upper- & Lower-case in the one file

11 Quality Control EuroBase Indicators for
BE, CZ, DE, EE, EL, ES, HR, LV, NL, RO, SI, HU, SK have been validated fully and the results have been approved by the corresponding NSI for dissemination

12 Publication The Publication of the first version of the EuroBase Indicators based on micro-data from <28 Countries on the Eurostat Website by Oct 2017 EU-/EA- Aggregates cannot be produced until data has been received by ALL Member States Preparation and publication of the "EU-wide HBS 2015 Quality Report" by Eurostat by the end of 2018 Q1 Finally, the preparation of Anonymised Micro-Datasets for Scientific Research

13 Conclusions Eurostat requests that countries please respect more closely the guidelines contained in the HBS Transmission document. Eurostat recommends using standardised file formats (SAS) for the transmission of the HBS data to Eurostat Amounts reported to Eurostat should be in national currency (NAC), annualised and un-weighted.

14 Conclusions (II) Countries should aim to reduce the frequency of missing values in the HBS micro-datasets transmitted to Eurostat Countries should organize future HBS Surveys, during the agreed Reference Year Could those countries that have not managed to deliver micro-data for the HBS 2015 Wave yet, please inform Eurostat before October 16th, when they plan to send these data.

15 Thank you for your attention
