Creating the Bibliography

To learn how to write a correct APA bibliography for: Books Encyclopedias Website Magazines Videos Interviews

Here is an example of a Bibliography for a Book with 1 author: Simon, S. (2000). Destination: Jupiter. New York, NY: W. Morrow. Last name, First initial. (Year of publication). Title of book. City of publication, State of publication: Publisher name.

Here is an example of a Bibliography for a Book with 3 Authors: Bagenal, F., Dowling, T. & McKinnon, W. (2007). Jupiter: The planet, satellites and magnetosphere. New York, NY: Cambridge University Press. Last name, First initial., Last name, First initial. & Last name, First initial. (Year of publication). Title of book. City of publication, State of publication: Publisher name.

Here is an example of a Bibliography for an Encyclopedia/Dictionary: (2010). White Tiger. Encyclopedia Britannica. (Vol. 26, pp. 501- 508). New York: Scholastic, Inc. (Date). Title of Article. Title of Encyclopedia (Volume, pages). City of publication: Publishing company.

Here is an example of a Bibliography for a Magazine Article: Price, S. (Feb. 2013). Hunting Spiders. Kids Discover, Last Name, First Initial. (Publication date). Article title. Periodical title, volume number (issue number if available), inclusive pages.  13, 8-9.

Here is an example of a Bibliography for a Video: HooplaKidzLab. (2015, Feb 26). Egg floating in saltwater experiment [Video file]. Retrieved from https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zszw6uCiQpc Last Name, First Initial of filmmaker or Title. (Year of publication, date published). Name of video [Video file]. Retrieved from web address.  

Here is an example of a Bibliography for an Interview: Goodman, M. (4 Feb. 2013). Personal interview. Last Name, First initial. (day month year). Personal/Telephone interview.

When Creating Your Bibliographies… Be sure to indent 5 spaces when a citation continues onto a second line or even a third line. Always end citations with a period, except after a URL. Place citations in alphabetical order by the first word of each citation. When information needed for the citation is missing, just leave the missing information out and continue with the next part of the citation.
