2. What is a works cited page? When you conduct research, you need to tell people about the books and other sources in which you found information. You do that by writing a works cited page; this is also called a bibliography.

3. What is a works cited page? Works cited pages are like the “Simon Says” game that you may have played when you were younger. Everything in a bibliography has to be done just so – every piece of punctuation must follow a rule. For example, Simon says to put magazine articles in quotation marks, and Simon says to underline the titles of books. The rules for a works cited page are very specific and must be followed exactly.

4. MLA Format MLA stands for Modern Language Association. We will follow the MLA rules for creating a works cited page.

6. Book Formula Copy the following into your notebook. Be sure to write all of the punctuation, including things that are underlined or in quotation marks! Author’s last name, first name. Book title. “Article title.” Place of publication: publisher, year of publication.

7. Internet Formula Copy the following into your notebook. Be sure to write all of the punctuation, including things that are underlined or in quotation marks! Author’s last name, first name. Title of website. Date of update. Date you visited site.

8. Interview Formula Copy the following into your notebook. Be sure to write all of the punctuation, including things that are underlined or in quotation marks! Person’s last name, first name. Type of interview (personal, telephone, or e- mail). Date of interview.

12. Creating a Works Cited Page Using Your Entries You will write your works cited entries in alphabetical order by the first letter of each entry. DO NOT number or bullet your entries. Use reverse indentation for each entry. Look at the three entries we’ve just created. Write these entries in alphabetical order.

13. Now, take out your source cards, and begin creating your own works cited page for your research report. Remember to follow our three steps!
