Words with Prefixes re- un- non-

What is a Prefix A prefix: A group of letters placed at the beginning of a word to change the meaning.

Re = Again Reuse = Use again Example: My art teacher reuses the plastic bottle to make a nice plant pot.

Restart = Begin again Example: Oh no! I lost, I have to restart the game.

Retell = Say again Example: My friend is happy she won the tennis tournament, she retells the story to everyone she sees.

Resend = Send again Example: They didn’t receive my message, I have to resend it.

Replace = Change Example: When the remote battery is dead, we must replace it.

Recall = Remember Example: Do you recall our trip to kidzania?

Reproduce = Copy Example: Don’t reproduce old ideas, be creative and think of new ones.

Retrace = Write over Example: Retrace the alphabet letters, so you can improve your handwriting.

Reapply = Sign up again Example: My passport was expired, I had to reapply to renew it.

Un = Not, remove Uncork = Remove the cork of a bottle (open) Example: Some bottles need a special way to uncork it.

Unstuck = Not stuck Example: We have to unstuck the paper from the copy machine so it can work properly. Pry loose :remove (from under a heavy object)

Unannounced = Not telling Example: My mother is so angry, she doesn’t like unannounced visitors.

Unpleasant = Not nice Example: It has a very unpleasant smell!

Unchain = Remove chain Example: We have to unchain the door to get in.

Unfit = Not good, not acceptable Example: This movie is unfit for children, it is very scary.

Unwelcome = Not wanted Example: Bullies are unwelcomed in our school.

Uninvited = Not asked for Example: This year the cold came uninvited.

Non = Not Nonprofit = Not for money Example: The Egyptian food bank is a nonprofit organization that gives away food for free to help poor people.

Nonmetal = Not made of metal Example: Plastic, wood and glass are nonmetals.

Nontoxic = Not causing harm to the body Example: Always play with nontoxic plasticine.
