Preproduction Team Producer Writer Director Art Director Lighting Director

Production Team Sometimes productions are broken up into: above-the-line personnel: These are nontechnical personnel such as preproduction and supervisory people This is used as a budgeting tool - usually these people are negotiated and paid prior to filming and Below-the-Line personnel: These are technical personnel such as camera operators audio engineers. Also used as a budgeting tool - these are fixed costs (non negotiable) See the chart on pg34

Image Formation

Basic Image Formation Scanning Process PAL (Phase Alternating Line) Mostly in Europe and some of South America NTSC (National Television System Committee) Interlaced scanning: beam skips every other line (odd then even) Odd scan = one field Even scan = one field Both scans = one frame

Basic Image Formation Progressive Scanning Beam scans each line in sequence, just like reading a book. One full frame created per scanning cycle

Basic Image Formation DTV = Digital Television HDTV 480p system - 480 lines that are progressively scanned. While crisp, the picture is technically not HDTV; 720p system - 720 lines that are progressively scanned; 1080i system - 1080 lines that are interlaced scanned; Superior Picture quality and is officially classified as HDTV 1080p system – 1080 lines progressively scanned.
