Formed in 2006 with a focus on Jatropha cultivation and energy/biodiesel production. It has worked in 15 countries. Started 30 pilot plantations (each max 50 hectares). Agro-engineering approach. Development of Jatropha seedbank. Collaboration with numerous research institutes. Development of 5 local Joint Ventures. Hamburg – 21/09/08

Currently more than one million hectares of Jatropha have already been planted and forecasts estimate a development of 5 million hectares by 2010, mainly in Africa, Asia and Latin America. (source GEXSI) This tremendous growth may have important benefits to employment and environment but, at the same time, it may put at serious risk the sustainable development of the sector. The youth of the Jatropha sector and Web diffusion provide Us with a unique opportunity: to differentiate the development of the sector from the business-as-usual model by adopting since the beginning a win-win approach and transparent communication. Jatrophabook s objectives are: To create a global and open Jatropha Web-based platform for the promotion of sustainable Jatropha chains; To facilitate the definition of sustainable criteria adherent to local needs; To offer a transparent platform for the implementation of the Jatropha supply chain traceability. For this reason, a group of companies and Institutions have decided to start Jatrophabook. Hamburg – 21/09/08

Registered members will be able to: Open a personal account and edit a profile Join the Jatropha community and communicate with other registered members Access to Projects public pages and make comments Register their project and describe it in a personal space with the use of multimedia tools (pictures, videos..) Registered projects will be able to: Link to other projects and form a Jatropha supply chain. Complete the seeds-to-energy/biofuel chain by inviting end-users. Hamburg – 21/09/08
