PAKISTAN ROMANIA BUSINESS COUNCIL Delegation to Islamabad for conference on the 21 st and 22 nd of September 2011, during the visit of Romanian Parliamentary & Business Delegation.

On the invitation by his Excellency The Ambassador of Romania at Islamabad H.E. Mr. Emilian Ion, a delegation headed by the Chairman PRBC and four Board of Directors and two Associate Members visited Islamabad on the 21 st and 22 nd of September 2011.The delegation members were as under. 1) Mr. Sohail Shamim Firpo. Chairman 2) Mr. Saad Bin Haroon. Director 3) Mr. Hamood ur Rehman Director 4) Mr. Engr. Sahabzada Jahanzeb Khan. Director 5) Mr. Junaid ur Rehman. Director 6) Mr. Khurram Bin Kamal. Associate Member 7) Mr. Amir Bhagani.Associate Member

A fruitful meeting was held on the 21 st of September in Hotel Marriot with the Romanian Business delegation where the Second Secretary from the Embassy, Mr. Dragos LUCA introduced both sides. The Romanian delegation comprised of Members from their Chamber of Commerce from PRAHOVA and BRASOV County, President of their Chamber of Commerce, representative of companies from different sectors such as Mining industry, Pharmaceutical industry were also present. After a brief introduction speeches of Mr. Sohail Shamim Firpo, Chairman PRBC, Mr. Aurelian GOGULESCU, President, Chamber of Commerce and Industry PRAHOVA, & Mr. Carlos Ambrus Member of the Chambers Board of Brasov. A very productive and interactive one to one meeting were held in which a detail presentations was given to them on the potential of Pakistani Mining Industry and an industry profile was handed over to them. Items of mutual interest were also discussed with the delegate guests and ideas on speeding up the process of bilateral trade were shared. It was observed that the Romanian delegates were very interested in proposing that the Business Council should motivate companies in Pakistan to invest in a safe country like Romania.

This meeting was concluded on a very positive note. Souvenir gifts were handed over to the delegates, which were courtesy of Board of Directors of Pakistan Romania Business Council and one of its Associated Member M/s Artistic Towel Mills.

During the Dinner, H.E. Mr. Emilian Ion alongwith PRBC delegation met with Mr. Titus Corlaten, Mr. George Serevin (Senators of Romanian Parliament), Mr. Aurelian GOGULESCU, President, Chamber of Commerce and Industry PRAHOVA & Mr. Carlos Ambrus Member of the Chambers Board of Brasov, Ambassador of Czech Republic, Mr. Hussain Ahmed- Director General & Mr. Haris Rehman from Senate of Pakistan, Mr. Tariq Saud Chairman A.P.T.M.A, S.B Zone. Many other distinguished guests were also present on the occasion such as different advisors and other honorable guests.

The delegation members freely interacted with the guests and matter of mutual interest were discussed. The Honorable Ambassador H.E. Mr. Emilian Ion was delighted on the occasion and met with all the delegation members personally. He also ensured that his guests are well taken care off. The Counselor Officer of the Romanian Embassy, Mr. Romeo DOROFTEI was also present on the occasion. After dinner his Excellency the Ambassador was kind enough to have a photo session especially with the PRBC delegation members and wish them well for their onward plans.

The Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry had invited the Romanian delegation for a meeting/luncheon, were the presence of PRBC was also welcomed by the Hon Ambassador H.E. Mr. Emilian Ion. The delegations from Romania was being lead by Senator Titus Corlatean and were very focus about their mission and point of view regarding the development of bilateral trade and investment & spoke about the backing Romania is providing to Pakistani Government in the E.U Parliament. Mr. Aurelian Gogulescu, President, Chamber of Commerce and Industry Prahova, gave a very impressive presentation on the business potential and opportunities in Romania. He emphasized on the key service sectors like Education, Health, Tourism and Transfer of Technology. He also suggested that a business delegation from Pakistan should visit on priority basis to Romania so that material results could be achieved form this effort. After the presentation an invitation to visit Romania was extended to the PRBC from the Romanian delegation which was acknowledged by our Chairman Mr. Sohail Shamim Firpo.

The Delegation of PRBC was given much importance due to their efficient role they are to play in this process. The delegates from both sides along with the guest mingled freely for discussion on mutual interest. Finally the President of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Mr. Mehfooz Elahi escorted the Chairman PRBC and other members with a commitment of strong cooperation for the future.
