Objectives Students will: Write singular and plural present tense verbs correctly. Proofread sentences for correct present tense verbs.

Definitions & Rules Present Tense Verbs It is a verb that tells what the subject is doing right now. You change the form of a verb in the present tense when a singular noun is the subject. Add “s” or “es” to most verbs to show the present tense if the subject is singular. Do not add “s” or “es” if the subject is “I” “you” plural

Rules for forming the present tense Most verbs: Add “s” Verbs ending in “s, ch, sh, x, and z” Add “es” Verbs ending with a consonant and y Change the “y” to “i” and add “es”
